Mr. William Thomas Crawford, 86, formerly of Clemmons was taken gently into the arms of our Heavenly Father on April 27, 2011 in his daughters home after years of declining health. He was born in Lexington, NC on September 7, 1924, the youngest child of Benjamin Coffield and Bessie Sherrill Crawford. He was married to his beautiful Lee Linville Crawford for 56 years, who preceded him in death in 2005. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Chloe Underwood and Marie Jordan, both of Greensboro. He is survived by his daughter, Marty Crawford and her partner Clete Trexler of Concord; brother, Benjamin Crawford and wife Sybilla of Lewisville; sister, Josephine Collins of Chillicothe, OH and nieces and nephews. He was a veteran, who served his country in WWII and was retired from the US Postal Service. He was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church where some of his fondest memories were made with his Sunday school class and choir. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed his time with his golfing buddies and being outdoors. He was an incredibly talented and spiritual man who led his life with integrity and common sense making him a wonderful husband and father. We know the time apart will be difficult, but until we are reunited our faith and happy memories will keep us strong. A special thanks to our friends who made him feel so welcome and comfortable after his move to Concord and to each person who helped him and cared for him during his illness. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, 108 E. Kinderton Way, Advance, NC 27006, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem with Rev. Marcus Portis officiating.
