William Orville Carter, Sr.

Kernersville - Mr. William Orville Carter, Sr., 78, passed away September 20, 2013 at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1935 to the late Bernard William Carter and Viola Rice Carter. William was a member of the Kernersville Wesleyan Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He served proudly as a Korean War Veteran. He was the owner of Carter Plumbing Company where he was self-employed for many years, working in plumbing, and heating and air. Mr. Carter was a very devoted family man, who enjoyed deep sea fishing and restoring classic automobiles. He was a member of the Old Salem Chapter Antique Automobile Club. Two of Mr. Carter's cars were used in the movie ""The ""Ultimate Life"" in theaters now. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter; Patty Hampton, and a sister; Rena Knight. Surviving are; his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce P. Carter of the home, one son; William ""Billy"" Carter, Jr. of Kernersville, three daughters; Kathy Taylor (Vernon), Sandy Walker (Jerry) all of Kernersville, and Lisa Walker ( John) of Walburg, eight grandchildren; Larry, Nicolette, Amber, Ashley, John, Crystal, Charlie, and Dalton, eight great grandchildren, four sister; Betty Holland, Shirley Carter, Mary Ellen Lawson, and Alice Carter, a Twin Brother; Willard Carter, two brothers; Charles, and Ricky Carter, and several special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Kernersville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Phil Hulen officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday evening at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
