William Robert Bowden

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. William Robert ""Brother"" Bowden, passed away March 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth Co. December 29, 1945 to the late John Walter and Georgia Ray Bowden. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked as a security guard for Loomis, Inc. for many years. ""Brother"" enjoyed woodworking, he could fix anything. He was just very good with his hands. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. Surviving are his loving wife of 39 yrs. Zelma Comer Bowden, three daughters; Janet Bassett, Tonya Taylor, and Lori Love. Three brothers Roscoe, Ricky, and David Bowden, Ten sisters; Peggy Brewer, Gladys Ayers, Dorothy Caudle, Betty Edsel, Martha Glass, Carolyn Brown, Vickie Dodson, Bobbie Bradley, Rebecca Thrift, and Lisa McGee. Seven grandchildren; Heather, Amber, Tara, Sean, Chris, Brandon, and Justin, six great grandchildren; Madison, Zander, Landon, Kaden, Tanner, and Keaton. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Sycamore Baptist Church in Walnut Cove with Rev. Joel Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family would request memorials be made to the VFW Post 9010 P.O. Box 601 27012.
