BOONE Mr. William Robert Boone ""J.R."" of Winston-Salem passed away on January 25, 2012 at The Oaks of Forsyth. J.R. was born December 25, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late William Virgil Boone and Ethel Boone Parrish. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Reba Blackburn Boone; stepfather, William H. Parrish; and three sisters, Maude Talbert, Luella Belton and Edith Luffman. He will be missed by his daughters, Sharon Lynn Sheets (Gerald), Betty Ann Hatton (Earl), and Pamela B. Parrish (Billy); his son, Mickey B. Boone (Dru); grandchildren, Aaron Matijow (Craig), Chad Boone, Morgan Parrish, Jerry Sheets, Angie Terriaco and Michael Sheets; great grandchildren, Jacob, Noah and Victoria Sheets, Tyler Terriaco and Gavin Sheets. J.R. worked HVAC for several years before operating the Phillips 66 service station located beside Mr. Barbecue on Peters Creek Parkway. J.R. traveled as a mechanic for his son as he raced professional MotorCross for a number of years. J.R. enjoyed a number of years at Wilshire Golf Course where he socialized and mingled with all the golfers, as he, himself, was an avid golfer. If you ever met J.R. he always had a story to tell that kept you laughing. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Eric Horton officiating. A celebration of his life will be held at his home immediately after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or a charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at The Oaks of Forsyth for their care during his stay.
