William "Billy" Charles Edwards, Jr.

Kernersville – Mr. William “Billy” Charles Edwards, Jr., 75, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his residence. He was born on July 6, 1949, in Forsyth County to the late William Charles Edwards, Sr. and Louise Bellamy Edwards. Billy was a lifelong and well-known resident of Kernersville. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and attended Brevard College. Billy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a master carpenter and had a long career in the construction industry. Billy’s interests included music ranging from Beethoven to Grateful Dead to Bluegrass. Billy, himself, was talented in playing the guitar. He was extremely well read and knowledgeable on many topics including space exploration, history, music, and politics. Billy was a great friend and loved by all who met him. He will be deeply missed. 

He is survived by numerous cousins, friends, and other family members. As well as his cat, Onyx.

A funeral service for Billy will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Kuntz officiating. Friends will be able to view and sign the register from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service in the sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will informally receive friends following the service in the commons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund at 306 S. Main Street, Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
