Kernersville – Mr. William “Bill” Joseph Waibel, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 31, 2023, at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1960, in Pittsburgh, PA to Raymond Edward and Carmella Bochicchio Waibel. From the start, Bill was a huge football fan. He played for the Gateway Senior High Gators in Monroeville, PA as a defensive tackle and middle linebacker. He was also All Conference both his Junior and Senior years. He played college ball at Potomac State and Duquesne University. He was an all-around Bad A** on the football field and loved his Steelers with a passion. He loved to cook, especially the Italian dishes he learned from his mother and grandmother. He worked in the restaurant business and owned several pizza shops over the years. Bill had the biggest heart and a wicked sense of humor. There is no doubt that he is in heaven laughing right now. He enjoyed listening to music, especially classic rock. Bill had a love for animals, especially cats, dogs, and birds. He also loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Bill was larger than life and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three siblings, Rachelle Colditz (husband, Ken), Melissa Candee (husband, Clark), and Raymond Waibel (wife, Stephanie); his girlfriend Karen Pepper, who he adored; and six very special nieces and nephews.
