William “Bill” Edward Boyles, 96, beloved husband, brother, father, pawpaw, uncle, and friend, passed away after a short period of declining health. Bill lived a long life filled with fun and happiness.
Bill was born on April 19, 1928, in Forsyth County to Myrl Boyles. He was baptized at age 7 at Trinity Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. Bill joined the Army in 1946 and was posted to Separation Point, Camp Campbell, KY. He was with the 629th Medical Clearing Unit. After leaving the Army, he met and married Betty Ann Ellington. He worked as a butcher, an electrician, and finally spent around 45 years at Roadway Trucking as a long-haul truck driver.
Bill loved baseball. He played and coached for many years before joining the Forsyth County Recreational Department. Adult League. Upon retirement, Bill played catcher for the 79+ Bombers team. He played for them until June 2024, only stopping because of an eye injury. He was extremely proud of the gold and silver medals won at the NC Senior Olympics. Bill was also involved with a Bowman Gray racing team, helping mechanically and with the pit crew. He also loved fishing and teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. He owned a house at Emerald Isle, NC, until his wife's passing.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ellington Boyles; mother Myrl Boyles Weisner; brothers, Jack Boyles and Charles Weisner; and sisters, Dorothy Buelin and Sarah Frances Mabe.
He is survived by his children, Connie Jenkins (Roney), Cheryl Yarbrough (Jeff), Larry Boyles, Cindy Argabright (Greg); grandchildren Tara Jenkins, Todd Jenkins (Angie), Misty "Lou" Muller, Jennifer Estep (Chris), Jessica Mize (Carllee); Kisha Absher (Dwayne), Kevin Argabright (Jennifer), Kari Argabright; great grandchildren Lindsey Berry (Jeffrey), Laurie Turner (Dustin), Maiya Logan, Allen Logan, Christian Jenkins (Haley), Jason Jenkins (Liz), Ryan Jenkins (Cacie Cummings), Piper Muller, Sam Muller, Wade, Grant, and Audrey Estep, Charlotte Mize, Kyndal, Kylie, Kynley Absher, Holden Argabright; great great grandchildren Asuna Berry, Jason Jr. and Jaxon Jenkins; a special friend Lois Bennett. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, William Ellington; many nieces and nephews; special family friends; and his Bombers baseball friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on April 25, 2025, at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home Silas Creek Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. John Jackman officiating, followed by a reception for family and friends.
