William Barker, Jr.

KERNERSVILLE – William Henry Barker, Jr., 92, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at Salemtowne Retirement Community. William was born on October 14, 1928 in Henry County, VA to William Barker Sr. and Ella Taylor Barker. He was a Long Haul Truck Driver for McLean Trucking, retiring after many years of dedicated service and was a member of the Teamsters Union. William was a Veteran of the US Army, stationed at the Mount Fuji Air Force Base in Japan during the Korean War and served as an Aircraft Gunner.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Lois M. Barker; and two brothers; Masten and Buddy Barker.

Surviving are two sons, Keith Barker (Sandra) and Darrell Barker (Sandy); seven grandchildren, Christy, Cheyenne, Kevin, Jessica, Falon, Ian and Eryka; and six great grandchildren, Erich, Mitchell, Christian, Henry, Skye and Kierian, a nephew, Buddy Barker, Jr. and a niece, Carmen B. Adams.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Tim Wolfe and Pastor Bobby Dishman officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
