Winston-Salem-William Joseph Banks, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born December 25, 1920 in Galax, Virginia to the late William Joseph Banks, Sr. and Bessie Reynolds Banks. Mr. Banks was a member of Kernersville Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. William was employed by Stewart Buick and then Bill Harris Buick as a mechanic. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Zita Barbara Banks; five brothers and sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Irene Tise and husband Roger, Sr. of Winston Salem, Barbara Evins and husband Lee of Kennesaw, Georgia; one son, Vernon Joseph Banks of Kernersville; six grandchildren, Angela Tise Sampson, Roger F. Tise II, Joseph Lee Evins, Ryan Joseph Banks, Melinda Joy Banks Jenkins, and Melissa Ann Banks; four great-grandchildren, Edward Andrew Sampson, Alyssa Meredith Sampson, Roger F. Tise III, Ashlynn Elizabeth Evins, and Colin Capriola. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Kernersville Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Don Davis and Pastor Duane Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Tri-City Christian Academy Building Fund, 8000 Clinard Farm Rd., High Point, NC 27265.
