Mr. William ""Bill"" Carter Baker, 93, of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Bill was born August 11, 1920 in Nash County to the late James Clinton Baker and Emma Hoggard Baker. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of West Bend Masonic Lodge in Lewisville and York Rite, and was a 33rd degree Mason. Bill retired as a general manager at National Linen Service after 46 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Billie Blizard Baker, and several brothers and sisters.
Bill is survived by daughters, Sandy Baker of Glen Burnie, MD and Robin Widhelm and husband Gary of North Bend, NE; sister, Florence Dean; brother-in-law, Ed Blizard; grandchildren, Chris Bernard, Jennifer Ray-Bernard, Todd Widhelm, and Holly Widhelm; several nieces and nephews; and sweetheart of 14 years, Barbara DeLong.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with David Wood, Bill's nephew, officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Sunday, May 11 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
