William Bill Armsworthy

Mr. William ""Bill"" Charles Armsworthy, 77, of Advance passed away Tuesday, October 06, 2009 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born April 9, 1932 in Davie County to the late Willie and Stella Foster Armsworthy. Mr. Armsworthy was retired from Western Electric and served in the infantry in the Korean War. He was a charter member of the Smith Grove Fire Department and the Smith Grove Ruritan. He was a member of Smith Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Armsworthy also volunteered for Brenner Childrens Hospital for 20 years and loved gardening and doing carpentry work. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Phillips Armsworthy; children, Daphne Frye and husband Wayne, Mary Tolar and William Ray Armsworthy; grandchildren, Heather Leach (Mark), Ben Frye (Lorie), Darbe Tolar and Brandon Armsworthy; great grandchildren, Emma and David Leach and Charlie and Stella Frye; sisters, Louise Wilson and Kaye Armsworthy; a brother, Jerry Armsworthy and wife Joann; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Laura Spry, Kellee Agee and Candy Johnson. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Smith Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Clontz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
