William Henry Andrews

Mr. William (Bill) Henry Andrews, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 after a brief illness. Bill met his wife, Dorothy Fox Andrews at Crystal Lake and was married for 63 years. Bill believed in hard work and demonstrated this his entire life. He was in the wholesale pharmaceutical business for over fifty years. Bill was commited to his family and his church. During his working years he was very active in the N.C. Pharmaceutical Association. Bill was a Mason recently receiving his 60 year pin. He served on many boards. He was on the board of trustees at Fairview Moravian Church and was a Past President of Pinebrook Country Club. He spent many years in the Winston-Salem Sertoma Club. He graduated in 1948 from Hanes High School. Bill loved all sports, and was a tremendous athlete in his youth. He was a champion diver, but baseball was his true love. He once pitched a double header, winning both games. During his playing days he became known as ""Doc"" Andrews. Teammates would comment the baseball looked the ""size of an aspirin"" when he delivered it to the plate. He was a member of the Moravian church his entire life and was very active at Fairview Moravian Church. He will be remembered for the dozens of Happy Birthday calls he made every month to all his friends. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Belle Warren Andrews, his father, John Puett Andrews and brother, John Warren Andrews. Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Fox Andrews; two sons, J. Michael Andrews and J. Bryan Andrews, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Stephanie J. Andrews; four grandchildren, Cortney Elaine Andrews, Lauren Andrews Hassenzahl and husband, Drew, Justin Miles Andrews and wife, Jennifer and James Bryan Andrews, Jr. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Fairview Moravian Church with Rev.
