William H. Bill" Adams

Mr. William H. "" Bill"" Adams, Jr. , 65, of Winston-Salem passed away on Sept. 12, 2009 following a valiant fight against lung cancer. Bill was born in Winston-Salem on Nov. 26, 1943 to the late W. H. Adams, Sr. and Esther Potts Adams. A graduate of Griffith High School, Bill owned and operated Slush Puppie of Winston-Salem, Inc. (a frozen beverage business) for 35 years. He was an outgoing, humorous and hardworking man with a big heart, who enjoyed helping people. He made many friends throughout the USA by way of his work and travels. Bill was the proud father of 3 surviving children: Kelly Adams of W-S, Dana Markmann of Weston, MA, and Jason Adams of Lake Norman, born to him and his former wife, Sharon Pope Adams Zito, currently of Davidson, NC. Also surviving him are son-in-law Dr. James F. Markmann of Weston, MA, and special daughter-in-law Betsy Adams of Lake Norman. Bill leaves behind to mourn his passing his devoted, loving companion of 8 years, Bobbie Sides Barron and her son, Jason Barron, whom he affectionately called his ""2nd son""; 6 grandchildren: Lauren and Chelsea Curry; Katherine, Caroline & William Markmann; and Mia Adams, plus a great grandson, Levi; brothers John of Phoenix, AZ and Earl Adams (Brenda) of High Point, and sister Brenda A. Snow (David) of Walkertown; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a special cousin, Jesse Adams, as well as many very dear friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Mon. Sept. 14th at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Tues. Sept. 15th at Hopewell Moravian Church in W-S, with burial to follow in the church graveyard. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in honor of Bill to the Kate Bitting Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, W-S NC 27103.
