Wilford Columbus Coleman

Mr. Wilford Columbus Coleman, 81, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1928 in Forsyth County to Elsom B. and Lula Jackson Coleman. Mr. Coleman was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and taught his grandchildren about the Lord. He loved gardening and was an avid sports fan. Mr. Coleman was employed with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Juanita Tesh, Mary Dowd and Lorene Martin; and an infant daughter, Judy Ann Coleman. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Betty Martin Coleman of the home; two daughters, Brenda Diane Rushing of Winston-Salem and Christine Coleman McKnight and husband Wesley of Walkertown; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Emory Coleman and wife Carolyn of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Jo Mock and husband Fred of East Bend, Rachel Coleman, Sandra Weaver and husband Paul, all of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jerry Goode officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
