Wilda Kathleen 'Kay' McAllister Cheek

Wilda Kathleen ""Kay"" McAllister Cheek, 89, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Bluefield, WV on May 2, 1923 to Lelah S. and Rufus E. McAllister. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; three sisters; her husband of 63 years, Paul E. Cheek; and a son, Paul E. Cheek, Jr. Surviving are her children, Wilda and Charles Moon of Summerfield, David and Nita Cheek of Winston-Salem, Tom Cheek of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, Barbara Carswell of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Kara and Brian French, Preston Moon and Kate Murphy, Brad Cheek, Brooks and Kelly Driver, Darsey Driver, Caleb Driver and Evan Driver; one great grandchild, Kiley Brooke Driver; niece, Martha Widener and husband Bob of Richlands, VA; sister-in-law, Edna Schmidt of Stokesdale, NC; and a special family friend, Wendy Cheek. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Edward W. Allred officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank Mrs. Cheek's friends at The Crest of Clemmons Assisted Living where she resided the past 2 ½ years, and the compassionate caregivers at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
