Mr. Wesley Eugene Vanhoy, 87, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 17, 1936, in Forsyth County, the son of Howard and Dorothy Seivers Vanhoy.
He retired from R.J. Reynolds after 39 years of service and also had a landscaping business.
A quiet and reserve man, Wesley enjoyed the beach, mountains, and helping senior relatives throughout his life. Wesley loved outdoor activities with family and friends including camping, fishing, hunting, trail bike riding, boating, cycling and landscaping. Wesley was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Moravian Church, where he was a Scout Master, served on the graveyard committee and Trustees, and played the baritone in the band for nearly four decades.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Joseph Vanhoy. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Loretta Ellen Beeson Vanhoy; two sons, Jeff Vanhoy (Mary Alice) and Todd Vanhoy (Janice) of Walkertown; two grandsons, Michael Vanhoy (Kristina) and Tyler Vanhoy; two great grandchildren, Reagan Jean and Nikolai Wesley Vanhoy; three siblings, Sally Vandiver, Johnny Vanhoy, Brenda Gudger (Ken); and sister-in-law Nancy Vanhoy.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Oak Grove Moravian God’s Acre with Pastor David Berrier officiating. The family will greet friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Moravian Church, 120 Hammock Farm Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
