Wesley David Somerville

Winston Salem - Mr. Wesley David Somerville, 82, passed away, Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born February 9, 1934 in Seneca Falls NY. to the late Mary Gambee and James Oren Somerville. Mr. Somerville was a U.S. Army Veteran, He coached basketball for 40 years. He received many coaching awards including New York State Coach of the Year. He belonged to the New York State Coaches Association, and he was an American Legion Member.
Surviving are; his wife, Lorraine Knittle Somerville, three children; David Somerville (Cathy), Shawna Savage (Joe), and Leesa Yates (Dan), eight grandchildren; Bret Yates, Jason Savage, Stephen Yates, Jacob Savage, Kristina Somerville, Ryan Yates, Shane Somerville, and Jordan Savage, and nine great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charles O. Dickerson Booster Club, 100 Wig St. Trumansburg, NY 14886 .
