Wesley Parnell

WINSTON SALEM – Wesley Gray Parnell, 88, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. Wesley was born on April 24, 1933 in Forsyth County to Carl Wesley and Emma Lee Hedgecock Parnell. Wesley was a Veteran of the US Army and retired from JFG Coffee Company. He was a faithful member of Glenn View Baptist Church. Wesley enjoyed quail hunting and had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses. His love of farming showed in the produce he raised and shared with the community. Wesley was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was very dedicated to his family and friends. He had a genuine love for others and a radiating kindred spirit. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Wesley was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Dawn Parnell.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sarah Parnell; a daughter, Robin Scott (Mike); a son, Rick Parnell (Lynn); three grandchildren, Kyle Scott (April), Michelle Scott, and Neal Parnell (Lindsey); four great grandchildren, Breanna Rich, Nolan Scott, Blakely Parnell, and Smith Parnell.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Monday, May 17, 2021 at Glenn View Baptist Church - Multi Purpose Building with Dr. Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Multi Purpose Building following the committal.  Masks are requested for the indoor service and visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn View Baptist Church, 4275 Glenn Hi Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
