Wesley LaRonald Hunsucker

DATELINE: Rural Hall Mr. Wesley LaRonald Hunsucker, age 72 of Rural Hall passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning September 24, 2008 while delivering Meals-on-Wheels. Wesley was born November 18, 1935 in Ellerbe, NC to the late Coley Ulysses and Clatis Rogers Hunsucker. He was owner/operator of the Rural Hall Shell Service Station for over 40 years. His love of people and his love of his Rural Hall Moravian Church are well known throughout the Rural Hall area. Wesley was one of the original Rural Hall Town Councilmen. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and keeping his yard in immaculate condition. Wesley graduated from King High School in 1954 and was a star baseball and basketball player. After graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956. He was a member of the King American Legion Post 290 in King, NC. He leaves behind his buddy, friend, and loving wife Sylvia Speight Hunsucker who enjoyed 51 years of marriage. He is survived by daughter Claudia Watson and friend Kenny Speas. A son David Hunsucker and wife Susan; Two granddaughters Megan Masencup and husband Justin and Casey Watson; Three step-Grandchildren Abbey Clayman and husband Jeremy; Reece Craven and Maggie Craven. A step-great granddaughter; Lilah Clayman. His mother; Clatis Hunsucker and one brother Colonel Coley A. Hunsucker and wife Barbara. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 26, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Rural Hall Memorial Park in Rural Hall by Rev. Steve Craver. The King American Legion Post 290 will conduct the military burial rites. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday at the Rural Hall Moravian Church. The family will meet with friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the memorial service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Rural Hall Moravian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 487, Rural Hall, NC 27045 Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is serving the Hunsucker family.
