WALKER - GERMANTON
Mr. Wendell James Walker went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 4, 1951 in Forsyth County to the late William Walker and Juanita Caudle Walker. Wendell was a faithful member of Faith Chapel where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher. Wendell worked with the Winston-Salem Journal as a supervisor nearly 47 years. He had a kind, courageous heart and loved helping others. Wendell will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Boger and Jean Tullock. Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kathy Walker; one daughter, Wendi Tackett (Billy); two grandchildren, Tabitha Stevens (Jared) and Tashia Tackett (William); three great-grandchildren: Haylee Stevens, Mason Stevens, and Taylor Tackett; three siblings: Anita Ward (Tommy), Blake Walker (Louise), and Gary Walker (Sarah); and also, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 12 at the funeral home.
