Weldon Avery Idol

KERNERSVILLE - Weldon Avery Idol, 83, died Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Weldon was born on January 17, 1932 in Forsyth County to Homer Eugene and Ethel Stafford Idol. Weldon was a veteran of the US Army and an active member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir and served on various committees. Weldon retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System with 35 years of service. His career in education encompassed working as a Teacher, Counselor and then in the Administrative Center.
In addition to his parents, Weldon was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shannon Idol.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Almeta Willard Idol, of the home; two sons, Kim Weldon Idol (wife, Neapah) and Timothy James Idol; two grandchildren, Kaitlin Rose Idol and Nadesha Graham; two brothers, Burch Idol and twin, Wilbur Idol (wife, Imogene); and one sister, Bernice Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. Burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Bunker Hill UMC - Choir Fund, 1510 Bunker Hill Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
