Wayne Robert Smith

Mr. Wayne Robert Smith, 86, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 7, 1926 in Forsyth County to David Pierce Smith and Grace Robertson Smith. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Clemmons High School and retired in 1986 with 39 years of service with the United States Postal Service. He was also co-owner of Eagle Mailbox, Inc. for 10 years after retiring from the Postal Service. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theater serving during World War II. Mr. Smith was an avid golfer and member of Wilshire Golf Association and a charter member of the B.A. Culp Class at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dallas, Max, Flake, Roger William, David and Donald Smith. Wayne married the love of his life, Lucille Baynes Smith for 63 years. They had a daughter, Beverly Shoaf (Eddie), a son, Keith Smith (fiancé Cindy), two grandsons, Robert (Cara) and Andrew Smith and two granddaughters, Kristen Shoaf (Geno) and Ella Grace Smith and a very special great granddaughter, Abigail. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Bret Cogan and Rev. Joel Key officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel
