Winston Salem-Wayne Eduardo Montoya, 60, was lovingly known as ""El Guason"" (The Joker/The Comedian) passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Bogota, Colombia to the late Angel Montoya and Hilda Guerrero. He received his BS in Statistics from the National University of Colombia, and published his medical research. He was a scholar, he loved to teach, read, learn, research and help with home work, he was a lifelong tutor. Wayne was an avid furniture collector dealing in locally made furniture. He also was an athlete and loved to jog in the park, and dance. Wayne was a rescue squad volunteer for over 8 years with Kernersville Rescue. He always gave more then he received; devoted to his wife, four children, family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Eduardo Puerto, and Orlando Puerto. Surviving are his wife, Lila Jane Canon Montoya of the home; four children, Wayne David Montoya, Jane Ruth Montoya, Hilda Dominik Alexander, and Carlos Daniel Montoya; five brothers and sisters, Jaider Montoya, Martha Puerto, Omar Puerto, Edgar A. Puerto, and dear friends, Henry Naranjo, Arturo Velazquez, and Abner Gonzalez A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Winston Salem First formally First Assembly. Memorials may be made to any Allegacy Federal Credit Union in care of Wayne Montoya. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Montoya family.
