Wayne Hackett

Wayne Edward Hackett, 75, passed away March 2, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born April 20, 1944 to Perry and Lillian Hackett in Forsyth County.  Wayne was a talented athlete. As a young man he traveled with a local softball team, earning the nickname, “Boomer” for hitting the ball out of the park. His family says that Wayne never met a stranger. He will be lovingly remembered for his friendly, outgoing nature. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by brothers, Perry Hackett and Gerald Hackett; and a sister, Betty Carter. Surviving are his son, Eddie Hackett (Teresa); the love of his life, Lucy Crews; grandchildren, Kimberly Boger (Jay), Coty Hackett (Allison), Timothy Hackett (DeAnna), and Grayson Hackett; eight great grandchildren; and brothers, Don Hackett and Norris Hackett. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2020 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
