Wayne Monroe Bates

Wayne Monroe Bates, 72, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. 

Wayne was born in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Hasten Monroe and Lora Dobbins Bates on January 6, 1952. He worked in sales for grocery stores until his retirement. Wayne loved being outdoors, specifically working in his yard and mowing grass. He also enjoyed motorsports including drag racing and riding motorcycles, camping with his family at the beach and mountains, and loved animals, especially his dogs, Zoey and Bella. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish Wayne’s memory is his loving wife, Debby Bates of the home; his son, Adam Bates of Winston-Salem; his brother, Grayson Bates (Dorene) of Advance; niece, Courtney Phibbs (Josh) of Clemmons; and many other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
