Oak Ridge - Mr. Wayne Bartee Apple, 90, passed away at Westchester Manor Skilled Nursing Care, Friday, August 8, 2014. He was born August 13, 1923 in Guilford Co. to the late John Bentley and Ila Banks Bartee Apple. Mr. Apple retired from Duke Power Company. He was an avid outdoorsman who was loved by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by five brothers; John William Apple, Lewis Blackburn Apple, Reuben Orlando Apple, Jimmy Baynes Apple, and a twin brother, Wade Harlee Apple, three sisters; Martha Bernice Pope, Emilie Banks Lamar, and Marie Paige Parker.

Surviving are; his wife, Cleide McDowell Apple, one daughter Teresa Ann Apple of New Orleans, Louisiana, one granddaughter, Heather Tachna Blaylock and husband Shane of Oak Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted 4:00pm Monday at Kernersville Seventh Day Adventist with Rev. Don Davis and Elder Duane Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Kernersville Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kernersville Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery Improvement Fund at P.O. Box 249 Kernersville, NC 27285, or to the Charity of one's choice.
