Waneta Denton

Mrs. Waneta Showalter Denton, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022. She was born March 28, 1931 in Stark County, Ohio to Daniel Warren Showalter and Gladys Elizabeth Moomaw Showalter. Mrs. Denton was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and in the church orchestra. She retired as a teacher after 39 years of service. She led childrens’ ministries at several churches and led many children to the Lord. Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her husband, Victor H. Denton and a brother, Glen Showalter. Surviving are her four children, Katrina Denton, Timothy Denton, Gretchen Rouse (David) and Ruthanna Bridges (Bobby); four grandchildren, Abigail Denton, William Denton, Jacob Denton and Robby Bridges and two brothers, Harold Showalter and Carl Showalter. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller, Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Steve Hardy officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
