Wanda Stevens

Mrs. Wanda Lee Stevens, 77, of Clemmons, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Wanda was born September 1, 1940 in Forsyth County to Walter Raymond Burchette and Katy Lee Hobson. She graduated from Mineral Springs High School and retired from R.J. Reynolds after 29 years of service. The defining role of her life was that of a mother and grandmother. Wanda ensured that her children were raised with a strong Christian foundation. She attended Salem Baptist Church and for many years enjoyed visiting various churches in the communities in which she lived. She took care of both of her parents until their death, sacrificing in order to give them to best care and most love possible. In her free time, Wanda was often in attendance at estate auctions led by her son in law, Todd, and helped with his business in any way possible. She treasured those times whether she bought anything or not and took joy in simply being there with family and friends. During the holidays, she would spend hours decorating and in the kitchen cooking, with holiday music playing in the background to set the festive mood. Over the years, she and her husband Ken traveled over the world, with trips to Hong Kong, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and neighboring states. She also enjoyed traveling to Nashville to spend time with her daughter, Denna. Some of Wanda's fondest memories were the weekend trips she and her family would make to Hillsville, VA, Cherokee, and the NC coast. Wanda will be deeply missed by her loving family. She was their greatest fan. They will never forget the many milestones in their lives for which she was present, including numerous sporting events, graduations and birthdays. Wanda always took great joy in the simple things and was forever the optimist of her family, giving them strength and support through the years. Wanda is survived by the love of her life, husband of 42 years, Ken; children, Donna H. Leinbach and husband Todd, Denna Little, and Mitchell Stevens and wife Robin; grandchildren, Tyler J. Leinbach, Andrew G. Leinbach, Clinton M. Stevens and wife Heather, Lacey Azevedo and husband Jason, and Lori Campbell and husband Tom; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Stevens, Turner Stevens, Adalee Stevens, Kole Azevedo, Kendall Azevedo, and Cash Campbell.
