Mrs. Wanda W. Hackbarth, 87, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Triad United Methodist Home located in Arbor Acres. She was born in Elkin on October 2, 1922 to Clyde and Flossie Darnell Woodruff. Mrs. Hackbarth spent many hours volunteering for an array of community activities and was very active at Augsburg Lutheran Church, where she served as the church secretary for many years. Her other interests included gardening, knitting, Meals on Wheels, Stephen Ministry, and a multitude of charitable events. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Goff, her second husband, Carl Hackbarth, and her Brother, Richard Woodruff. Mrs. Hackbarth is survived by son-in-law, Richard J. Thomas; grandson, Scott R. Thomas, Sr. and wife Kaye L. Thomas; great grandchildren, Scott Thomas, Jr., Amanda Robinson, Ryan Robinson and Mauree Smith; nephew Thomas Woodruff and his wife Helen of Wallingford, CT.; extended family and her numerous dear and loyal friends. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Augsburg Lutheran Church with Dr. Ronald A. Rinn officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church, 845 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
