Walter Traynham Winn, Jr, aged 72 years,
Died April 22, 2016, in Winston-Salem, NC, surrounded by his family.
Born June 6, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, Son of the late Walter Traynham Winn, Sr and the late Sara Hill Martin of Atlanta, Georgia. Married to Catherine Duffer Keith on May 29, 1993, Georgetown, Bahamas. Walt attended Henry Grady High School and spent 20 plus years in Radio and Television as a Broadcast Engineer for various radio and TV stations in Atlanta including many years with WLWA-TV, WAGA-TV, WQXI Radio, and Georgia Public Broadcasting. He was the owner for over 29 years of Winn Sound and Recording in Atlanta, providing sound systems for events such as outdoor concerts with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at Chastain Park, the Rich's annual Christmas tree lighting, Theater of the Stars, and chief lighting engineer for Atlanta's Alliance Theater. He was an accomplished Theater organist and graced the audiences for the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA, playing the MIGHTY MO, and he was also a staff organist for the Music Grinder restaurant in Marietta, GA, playing Winifred the Mighty Wurlitzer. Walt was a lifetime member of the American Theatre Organ Society. He owned and partially restored a four-manual Page theatre pipe organ, which he later donated to the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society. Walt was also an accomplished pilot and flight instructor. He owned and piloted several aircraft, ranging from small fabric-covered planes to larger multi-engine aircraft, and he spent several years flying forest fire missions associated with the United States Forest Service.
Walt is survived by his wife Catherine D Winn and their daughter Kelsey E Winn, one brother Marty (Nancy) Winn, two grandchildren, one niece and three nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter Kim Clay Duke.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 25, 2016, 1:00 pm at
Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church
1210 Bolton Street Winston-Salem, NC 27103 officiated by Rev. Bret Cogan.

Walt Winn was an adventurer, pilot and musician who lived life to the fullest and brought joy and laughter to those who knew and loved him.
