Walter Herbert Swetcoff

Mr. Walter Herbert Swetcoff, 76, passed away at his home Wednesday, September 7, 2011. He was born in Tazwell Co., WVA on July 1, 1935 to Koonie and Ollie Davidson Swetcoff. Mr. Swetcoff proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was retired as a mechanic and a truck driver with EPES Trucking. Mr. Swetcoff loved people and had never met a stranger. He loved to dance and was a huge Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, two brothers and five sisters. He is survived by a daughter, Nola S. Spainhour of Winston-Salem, two sons, Walt Swetcoff Jr. and wife Amy and Tim Swetcoff and wife Gina both of Indiana, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Rev. Skip Furrow officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Forsyth Co. Animal Shelter, 5570 Strumer Park Circle, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
