After 4 years of declining health, Walter James Summers is now able to ask God, face to face, why the sky is Carolina Blue and not Duke Blue. James, 51, died peacefully on November 2, 2023 holding the hand of his true love, Amelia.
James is survived by his wife, Amelia, of Kernersville; brother, Will (Tabitha), of Siler City, NC; brother in law, Tony, of Winston Salem; and Sister in law, Amanda, of Georgia; and many extended family members and friends. His four legged kids, which will all miss him dearly, also called James their adopted dad. James worked at Old Dominion in Greensboro for over 20 years. James is preceded in death by his mother, Mary; dad, Bill; and father-in-law, William.
Per James' wishes, no service will be held at this time as he wishes all his family and friends to enjoy doing what he liked to do best over the next few weeks and years, whether it be going on a train ride, target shooting, scratching off a lottery ticket or just having a drink with your buddies. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
A special Thank You is extended to Chief Carl Walker and his amazing team from Piney Grove Fire Department, Crystal from Forsyth County EMS MIH, Lifestar, and friend, Ryan for their support and guidance during this journey. As the song says, "Don't regret what you did in life, regret what you didn't do."
Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
