Walter McLeandon Reavis

Mr. Walter McLeandon Reavis, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at his home. He was born February 24, 1922 in Wilkes County to the late Joseph Andrew and Nora Estep Reavis. Mr. Reavis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He retired as a Barber from the Ardmore Barber Shop and was an avid bowler. Mr. Reavis was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were three brothers and six sisters. Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Blanche Minton Reavis of the home; two daughters, Peggy Vogel and husband Jim and Pat Loflin and husband Steve; one son, Bobby B. Reavis and wife Jean; four grandchildren, Bobby B. Reavis, Jr., William Christopher Reavis, Steven Ray Loflin, Jr., and Matthew Brian Loflin; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Reavis, Brooke Reavis, Jesse Ray Reavis, Sydney Elizabeth Loflin, and Addison Isaiah Loflin; three step-great-grandchildren, Maranda Gillespie, Summer Teachey, and Autumn O'Bannion; also surviving are three sisters, Sadie Marie Testerman, Ada Mae Rayle, and Thelma Jean Hendren. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Myers and Pastor Daniel Hawtree, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to send special thanks to Jennifer Huffin, Charletta Eldridge, and Elizabeth Emery for the care and support given to Mr. Reavis.
