Walter McLeandon Reavis

Mr. Walter McLeandon Reavis, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at his home. He was born February 24, 1922 in Wilkes County to the late Joseph Andrew and Nora Estep Reavis. Mr. Reavis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He retired as a Barber from the Ardmore Barber Shop and was an avid bowler. Mr. Reavis was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were three brothers and six sisters. Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Blanche Minton Reavis of the home; two daughters, Peggy Vogel and husband Jim and Pat Loflin and husband Steve; one son, Bobby B. Reavis and wife Jean; four grandchildren, Bobby B. Reavis, Jr., William Christopher Reavis, Steven Ray Loflin, Jr., and Matthew Brian Loflin; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Reavis, Brooke Reavis, Jesse Ray Reavis, Sydney Elizabeth Loflin, and Addison Isaiah Loflin; three step-great-grandchildren, Maranda Gillespie, Summer Teachey, and Autumn O'Bannion; also surviving are three sisters, Sadie Marie Testerman, Ada Mae Rayle, and Thelma Jean Hendren. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Myers and Pastor Daniel Hawtree, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to send special thanks to Jennifer Huffin, Charletta Eldridge, and Elizabeth Emery for the care and support given to Mr. Reavis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kerwin Baptist Church Building Fund, 4520 Old Hollow Road Kernersville, NC 27284 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
