Walter Douglas Miller

Mr. Walter Douglas Miller, 97, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Doug was born at home on February 17, 1914 in Glendale Springs the son of the late Jordan and Mary Ann Miller. Mr. Miller lived at home and independently until late November before falling ill and going into hospice care. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Abigail Irene Miller, a daughter, Loraine, a sister, Virginia Dare ""Nell"" and brothers, Wesley, Rob, Fields, Gaither and Roy Guy. Mr. Miller is survived by his children, Loretta Lyalls (Perry), Lonnie Miller (June) and Vivian Beane (C.W.), his grandchildren, Dallas Lyalls (Teresa), Dorcas Shamel (Mike), Abby Fobes (Ron) and Jason Beane (Julie), his great-grandchildren, Angela Shamel, Mallory Fobes, Caleb Beane and Madison Beane and a sister, Beulah Farrington. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall. Burial will follow in Calvary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Glendale Springs, NC. The family will receive friends from11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
