Walter Earl Hash

Walter Earl Hash went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 13, 2016. He was a beloved and devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. Walter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955. He attended Baltimore and Richmond College and also Wilmington and Wilkes Community College. He worked for 17 years in management for Western Auto and then 20 years as a Regional Manager for Western Steer. After retiring from Western Steer he reactivated his Real Estate license and practiced as a Real Estate Agent until his retirement in 2014.
Walter was a loyal and active member of Center Grove Baptist Church. He devotedly read his bible daily and read through the entire bible many times. He had a wry sense of humor and loved people and animals, especially his dog Waffles. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, reading and studying. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hurdle and Hattie Hash, brother, Floyd Hash, son, Steve Hash and grandson, Kevin Hash. He was married for 60 years and is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Hash. Walter is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Allen Miller, son, Timothy Hash and son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Ursula Hash, brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Mavis Hash, sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Doug Halsey, sister-in-law, Linda White, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Center Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Corts officiating. There will be a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Baptist Chapel in Grassy Creek, NC. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to Center Grove Baptist Church, 8750 Lasater Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
