Walter Hobert Cheek

Mr. Walter ""Hobert"" Cheek, 87, of Winston-Salem died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 15, 1923 in Yadkin County but spent most of his life in Forsyth County. Mr. Cheek was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church until his health declined. He was a graduate of Hanes High School and was always glad to see his old friends. He served with the US Air Force (CBI) during World War II and retired from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Big Band Music. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sallie Cheek and his sister, Lizzie Cheek Anders. He is survived by his wife, Marie Southern Cheek of the home and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Brandon Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
