Walter Earl Brewer

Mr. Walter Earl Brewer, 85, of Rural Hall, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born November 29, 1929 in Forsyth County to Lolene Jarvis Brewer and Earl Nello Brewer. Mr. Brewer was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. After retiring, he started volunteering in the cafeteria at Gospel Light Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. There he served as a deacon and also was dedicated to the church bus ministry. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Jackie Williams Brewer; three daughters, Denise Brewer Hopkins of Winston-Salem, Darrell Cromer (Mitch) of Rural Hall and Dana Fulk of Advance; six grandchildren, Shanna Hopkins, Travis Hopkins (Michelle), Wes Cromer (Kacee), Kelly Whiteheart (Garry), Ben Fulk and Wendy Coe (Aaron) and seven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 pm Sunday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church Bus Ministry Fund, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
