Walter Lee Berrier

Walter Lee Berrier went to be with his Lord on August 8, 2010. He was born December 2, 1927 to L.H. and Bannie Everhart Berrier. He was retired from Western Electric where he worked as a section chief for 27 years. He was a charter member of the Arcadia Fire Department, and the Enterprise Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a past member of the Arcadia Lions Club, and a former Little League coach. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and as his health permitted was active in the community. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Florence ""Bobbie"" Scott Berrier who was constantly with him; three sons, David Berrier and wife Sonja of Kernersville, Dan Berrier and wife Rita of Midway, and Neil Berrier and wife Kristy of Arcadia; One of his greatest joys was his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Michael Berrier and wife Amy and son Jackson, Brandi Berrier, and Jennifer and Paul Autry, Jr., and Emma, Mattie, and Trent Berrier. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Berrier, Ray Berrier, and Bryce Berrier, and two sisters, Jennie Berrier and Margie Berrier all of Lexington. He is survived by brothers, Don Berrier and wife Clatie, Sam Berrier and wife Janice, and his sisters Deana Michael Beck and husband Don, Julia Clodfelter and husband Boyd, and a sister-in-law, Mary Berrier all of Lexington. He loved and was proud of his family. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Surratt and the Rev. Mark Denton officiating. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Rhonda Miller, his caretaker for the past several years.
