Mr. Wallace S. Hensley, Jr., 80, of Winston-Salem, began his heavenly walk with Jesus June 3, 2009. He was born December 25, 1928 in Burlington. He was a Christian and a member of Griffith Baptist Church. His zest for life and jovial spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace S. Hensley, Sr. and Gladys Leonard Hensley; and his sister, Naydene O'Reilly. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Cain Hensley; a son, Donnie Hensley, Sr. and wife Sherry; three daughters, Linda Hege and husband Stokes, Ruby Myers and husband Jack, and Carol Landreth and husband Keith; three foster sons, Don Lemons, Everette Lemons and Tim Lemons and wife Lisa; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Polk, Sally Moore, Audrey Jones and Gayle McMasters; and two brothers, Dalton Hensley and Allen Leonard. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Griffith Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
