Mr. Wadus Franklin Denton Jr, 74, of Wallburg, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on June 3, 1943 in Portsmouth, VA to Wadus Franklin Denton Sr and Kathleen Hanes. Mr. Denton served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He had a passion for work and taught Sunday School at Canaan United Methodist Church. Mr. Denton was a lifelong Tarheel, and shared his love for the Heels with his son and grandsons. He was a devoted husband for fifty years, father, grandfather, and son. Mr. Denton is preceded into death by his parents, Wadus Franklin Denton Sr and Kathleen Hanes. Surviving is his wife, Gayle Denton, son Rodney Denton and wife Martha Jo, three grandchildren: Gracen, Daelyn, and Deacon, two sisters, Jean Simmons and Janice Yontz, a brother, Bob Denton and wife Brenda, and two aunts, Jeanette Peace and husband George, and Janet Dunaway and husband Ray. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 AM Monday, July 3, 2017 at Canaan United Methodist Church with Rev. Peggy Finch and Rev. Doug Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
