Wade Wessley Smith, Sr.

KERNERSVILLE-Wade Wessley Smith, Sr., 90, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 17, 1918 in Forsyth Co. to the late Bunyan Dewitt and Hattie Weavil Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and a retiree of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Sell Smith; and two brothers, Earl and Roger Smith. Surviving are five children, Wade Wessley Smith, Jr. and wife Mary Ann, Carol Smith Debusk and husband Leroy, Sue Smith Routh and husband Michael, and David Keith Smith all of Kernersville, Donna Smith Williard and husband Kenny of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one brother, Royce Smith and wife Peggy; and one sister, Jewell Lankford all of Kernersville. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Lewis, Rev. Ellis Rouse, and Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
