Wade Edward Smith

Mr. Wade Edward Smith, 84, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 14, 1927 in Alexander County, the son of the late, Lola and Espie Smith. Mr. Smith retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 30 years of service. He served with the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Esten Smith and Cecil Smith and four sisters, Pansy Stout, Sue Spillman, Bet Hefner and Bea Tucker. He is survived by his wife, Louise Smith of the home, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Meghan McSwain and Rev. Bill chatman officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
