WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Wade Dalton Grubbs passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 27, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late Wade Bynum Grubbs and Gertrude Walker Grubbs. Mr. Grubbs attended Mineral Springs High School and married his high school sweetheart. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was in the Naval Reserves for two years. Mr. Grubbs worked for Western Electric and was owner/operator of Grubbs Plumbing and Septic Tank Services. Mr. Grubbs retired from Spector Freight Lines with 20 years of service, where he was also inducted into the 15 years Safe Driving - Million Mile Club. He continued to work as a truck driver for Titan Express until his health declined. Mr. Grubbs is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretta Styers Grubbs of the home; son, Dwight D. Grubbs and grandson, Nehemiah Grubbs of Winston-Salem; sister, Velma Tuttle of Walkertown; brother, Roland Grubbs (Jean) of Orlando, FL; two nieces and three nephews. A Graveside Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Styers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Liberty Baptist Church, 1548 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
