Wade Leroy Cornelius entered into the more immediate presence of his Savior on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. On June 7th of this year, Wade went into the hospital for coronary artery blockage and died from complications on August 5th.
He was born November 12, 1934 to Wade Ruffin and Doris Taylor Cornelius, the eldest of four sons. He had the physical strength of one raised on a farm, and learned the importance of an honest, hard day's work to put food on the table. Learning many trades over the years, he worked at Enon Roller Mill, Fisher Body in Baltimore MD, McLean Trucking, and for the Bell System from which he retired (Western Electric, Southern Bell, AT&T Information Systems), then Todd Communications and Black Box Inc.
In 1956, he met Mickey Turner of Winston-Salem and married her on April 13, 1957. He became a member of Messiah Moravian Church during its early years and remained a true and faithful member there until his death serving as usher, diener, and mowing team member. Each year, he and his family participated in the decorations of the church for Christmas as well as being the technical mind behind the Putz at the Candle Tea. Wade and Mickey had a daughter in 1963, Lori Ann, who passed the following day. A year to the day later, Charles Wade was born in 1964, followed by David Lee in 1967. David married Traci Darnell in April 1991, and Charles married Amy Warfel in June 1991. Wade and Mickey were blessed with a grandson, Wade Lucas, in December 1999. Wade lost Mickey, the love of his life, in January 2013.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Wade R. and Doris Taylor Cornelius, daughter Lori Ann Cornelius, sister-in-law Marla McMurray Turner, brother D.C. Cornelius, brother-in-law Richard A. Turner, sister-in-law Carolyn J. Turner, and wife Mickey T. Cornelius. Surviving are a sister-in-law Faye (D.C.) Cornelius, his brothers Allen L. (Peggy) Cornelius, and Kenneth E. (Veona) Cornelius, brother-in-law H. Michael Turner, sons Charles W. (Amy) Cornelius and David L. (Traci) Cornelius, and grandson Wade Lucas Cornelius.
