Wade Calvin Atkins, Sr., 75, of Advance, beloved husband and father, passed away November 10, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 23, 1933 in Forsyth County to the late Wiley James and Irene Jones Atkins. He was retired from Crawford Door Company with 29 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Wanda Miller Atkins of the home; one son, Wade Atkins, Jr., (Teresa) of Advance; two daughters, Rhonda Funderburk (Mike) of East Bend and Tracey Knode (Don) of Marriottsville, MD; five grandchildren, Bethany Holder (Wilson), Ashley Walker (Jay), Brian Atkins, Kelsi Atkins and Haley Knode; one great-grandson, Dillan Walker. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain A.G. Parker and Pastor Marvin Blackburn officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem for their loving care and support and to the wonderful staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Also, the family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Christopher R. Thomas, Dr. Nicholas Passero and to all family, friends and neighbors who were so caring and supportive during this time.
