W. Raymond Jones

Mr. W. Raymond Jones, 90, passed away at Brookridge Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, February 23, 2017. He was born on November 13, 1926 to Lewis Jones and Clara Swaim Murphy in Winston-Salem. Raymond served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Philippines. He owned and operated Jones TV for 35 years. He and his wife, Lorraine, lived in Atlantic Beach from 1985-2005. He was an avid golfer and card player. He loved fishing, boating, and being on the water. He was known throughout the Carolinas by his CB Handle ""Big Orange."" A good friend and neighbor, Raymond was kind and generous to a fault. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conard W. Murphy and Clara Swaim Murphy, his lovely wife of 61 years, Lorraine Faust Jones; son, Dannie Lee Jones; and a sister, Frances Jones Wiles ""Mimi"". He is survived by his daughters, Dixie Jones of Winston-Salem, NC and Susan Jones Nelson (Mike) of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Christina Nelson Strom (Patrick); great grandchildren, Levi and Jackson Strom; very special nephews, Gary Wiles (Gwen), Toby Wiles (Carolyn), Jeff Wiles (Sandy); and a special friend, Kathleen Flowers. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookridge Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and love. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookridge Benevolent Fund, 1199 Hayes Forest Dr. Winston-Salem, NC 27106; or to the charity of your choice.
