Vurlia Moore

Mrs. Vurlia Mae Pinnix Atchison Moore, 88, passed away peacefully December 22, 2021, at Trellis Supportive Care.  She was born June 10, 1933, in Iredell County to the late Samuel Pinnix and Genettie Garris Pinnix.  Vurlia was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in King and sang in the choir for many years.  She enjoyed gospel music and traveled around to many of the places gospel singings were held.  She loved her gardening, especially flowers.  Vurlia had two special fur babies, “Tori” and “Nikki” that she loved, filling her life full of joy.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl D. Atchison; second husband, Arnold Gray Moore; son, Larry Boyce Moose, Jr.; two grandchildren, Brenda Arlene Moose, and Christina Hope Moose, and one great grandchild, Haley Goad.  She is survived by one son, Victor Darrell Moose (Kimberly); two daughters, Teresa Carol Royall (Larry) and Sherry Phillips (Tim); six grandchildren, Vurlia Taylor, Michael Gregory, Michael Goad, Matthew and Michael Pope, and Alison Christian; 15 great-grandchildren, Erica Mabe, Amber Groce, Jerry Dwane Mabe, Jr., Bradley Mabe, Anna and Keli Taylor, Heather Garland, Scotty and Britney Blankinship, Jacob Gregory, Justin and Jason Goad, Mikayla and Elly Goad and Atlas Christian; ten great-great grandchildren, Kaelan, Ian, and Peyton Spencer, Blake and Harleigh Keyser, Magnolia Mabe, Kellen Moody, Rhett Mabe, Heavenlee Garland, and Jaxxon Goad.  A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church of King with Pastor Kevin Broyhill officiating.  Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
