Mr. Von Edward Berrier, known as “Bud” to his family and friends, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at his residence. Bud was born in Davidson County to the late Varner Edward Berrier and Ruth Giles Berrier on October 7, 1938. Bud served in the Winston-Salem Fire Department for over twenty-five years and achieved the rank of captain. He was instrumental in the formation of the Honor Guard for the fire department. Bud loved a lot of things. He loved his wife; he loved his children; he loved to fish and hunt; he loved a good practical joke; he loved to cook and was renowned for his firehouse meals; he loved his firefighter family; and he loved his God. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley McKinney Berrier. He is survived by his wife, Diane Pelligrino; daughters, Leigh Berrier Pittman (Joe) and Kris Berrier; sons, David Berrier (Candace Brown) and Chap Berrier (Kelly); stepdaughter, Dena Bourassa; five grandchildren, Katie Pittman, Sam Pittman, Zackary Berrier, Brett Berrier, and Abby Berrier; sisters, Catherine Hiatt and Vickie Dorton; and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Bud. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A private family graveside service will be held.
