Vivian Eloise Paxton Martin

KERNERSVILLE Vivian Eloise Paxton Martin, 86, went to be with Jesus, Friday, April 8, 2011 at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kernersville, NC. She was born in Covington, Virginia to the late Dewey Lee & Nina Reid Paxton on January 2, 1925. Vivian retired from General Electric Company and Genicom, Inc., in Waynesboro, She was a devoted Mother and Prayer Warrior. She accepted Christ in 1953 her life was changed forever. She became devoted to the Pilgrim Holiness Church where she raised her family to love God. She taught the adult Sunday School class for many years and worked tirelessly in other ministries of the church that supported her life values and faith in Christ. Vivian was a strong Christian role model whose faith in Christ and her love for family and friends were unconditional. Part of her life was also devoted to writing poetry and music that expressed her love for God and the hope of eternal life in Him, with many of her works being published. She also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles for her family and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Berkeley Martin; a grandson, Stephen Robert Martin, three sisters, Leola Rogers, Carol Jean Mays, Erma Boone; and two brothers, Norris Paxton and Dewey Lee Paxton, Jr.

Surviving are her daughter, Anita Loretta Roadcap (husband, Henry Lee); twin sons, Ronald Gray Martin (wife, Mary) and Donald Ray Martin (wife, Sandra); four grandsons, Henry Roadcap, Jr., Paul Roadcap, Derek Martin and Philip Martin; seven granddaughters, Rebecca Via, Tina Bukoskey, Rhonda Terrell, Nikki Chittum, Faith Lee, Gracia Ronette Wood and Summer Martin; 20 great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; one sister, Christine Kimberlin; and a brother N.E. Paxton (wife, Nancy).

The family would like to thank the staff of Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Kernersville, NC, for their devoted love and care.

A service celebrating her homegoing will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Reynolds, Hamrick Funeral Home, Waynesboro, VA with Rev. Philip Martin, Rev. Donald Martin and Pastor D.W. Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Fishersville, VA. Pallbearers will be Paul Roadcap, Henry Roadcap, Jr., Derek Martin, Philip Martin, Rick Bukoskey and Daniel Terrell. Vivians granddaughters will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
