Mrs. Virginia Greer Winfrey, 97, passed away January 21, 2021.  She was born April 3, 1923, in Forsyth County to the late Oscar James Greer and Katherine Jefferson Fulp Greer.  Mrs. Winfrey graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and later attended Salem College.  She retired from WS/FCS and was a member of Mizpah Moravian Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winfrey was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Eugene Winfrey; son, David Burton Winfrey; brother, Bill Greer; and sister, Gracie Davis.  She is survived by two children, James L. Winfrey and Katherine W. Teague (Van); three grandchildren: Robert B. Winfrey (Andrea), William B. Teague (Francy Jones), and Emily R. Teague (David Rayburn); great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Virginia Winfrey; and several nieces and nephews.  A private graveside service will be conducted for the family.  Once health conditions have improved and guidelines have been lifted, a memorial service will be held to honor the life of Mrs. Winfrey.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Mizpah Moravian Church, 3165 Mizpah Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
